my new painting series

Things in my life have been going from strength to strength ever since I made the commitment to myself to relax, nurture and allow good things for myself.

As a result I’ve decided to start a new series of mixed media artworks called ‘The Abundance Series’

The two artworks above are the first cabs off the rank, called ‘Life in the Stream 1 and 2’. I like them as a pair (or a ‘diptych’ in fancy art words). I’ve included text with affirmations in both of them, which will be the common theme amongst the new series.

It feels great to match my artworks with the wonderful feelings swelling inside me at this time of my life! I feel so blessed to have my job!

my fabric range is in!

Oh my GOD! Imagine my excitement ~ look what I just received in the post! My very own designer fabrics!

They’re printed onto organic cotton with eco-friendly vegetable inks. I think they’ve come up SUPER YAYSIES!

The one below here is from my artwork, ‘Aquatic Soul Dance’.

And these ones below are from my artwork, ‘Undulating Flourishside’.

I am so, so, SO pleased and feeling so blessed that this moment in my life has finally arrived. I’ve been thinking about it for years!

Yay for dreams coming true :)

what’s happening with you?

I feel like I’ve had so much going on lately that I haven’t had a chance to check out all my lovely blogger friends’ pages.

So, I’d love to know - what’s been happening with you?

Are you up to anything new and/or exciting?

Have you seen/done/thought about/heard anything really awesome recently?

I’d love to hear all about it – tell me! I love a good story.

dart board jewellery display

I just finished making this jewellery display out of an old dart-board I found at a garage sale recently. Not bad for $2 hey!

It holds and displays my fabric jewellery like a treat!

I put a lick of paint on the front too ~ It’s a mural of me and my baby girl as I call her into my tummy. Hopefully she brings me good luck!

I love that it folds up neatly to about 7cms deep ~ so easy for transporting to and from markets.

I love revamping old into new!

festive sale on art prints

I love Christmas. I love sharing. I love abundance. I love warm fuzzy feelings … So, until Christmas Eve, I’m having a HUGE sale on my art prints.

All prints on paper are now $20 each + postage. YAY!

And happy days: I’ve managed to get high quality photographs of artworks I sold years ago ~ so they’re now available as prints as well. It’s like meeting up with a long lost bunch of friends. I feel so happy!

new artwork - abundancia

I’ve been feeling SO creatively pumped and energised since I returned from my Fiji trip. It seems a bit of fresh air, relaxation and lazing around in a hammock can do wonders for one’s creativity!

This new artwork is called ‘Abundacia’. I’ve actually created it by re-working an old artwork called ‘The Hilltop Happening’. The old one just wasn’t ‘happening’ for me anymore.

abundancia before and after

But the new one is!

Abundancia is about planting seeds of desire and watching them become a reality.
...It's about feminine creative power and the beauty that comes along with that.
It's about integrity, and living my truth both on the inside and one the outside.

If you have a look you'll see that some parts of the painting look 'floaty' and in the background, while other parts look bold and really stand out. I did that to show all of the beautiful things that have already manifested in my life, and all the great things still to come (in the background). It's all there for me, I just trust it'll emerge at the right time!

Because this artwork came as a result of my beautiful, allowing, abundant yoga retreat in Fiji, I’m planning to donate it to my yoga teacher’s studio in Brighton, Brisbane. That way, I can share the abundance and be reminded every yoga class to relax, breathe and let it all in!

thoughts on babies + art + holidays

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that hubby and I are hoping to start a family soon. Over the last year and a half I’ve had my ups and downs - sad it hadn’t happened yet, worried it’d never happen, hoping it’d happen.

But I’m in a really great space about our journey now.

Things changed for me about a month ago. I had this beautiful meditation where my children came to me in a garden I’d created, and it was so strong and vivid and ‘real’ I was literally crying tears of joy. I can’t convey how beautiful it was. I’m tearing up again about it now! Since then, I’ve been receiving so many ‘signs’ and confirmation that they’re around me still and on their way soon.

So in honour of my new-found ease and joy about what’s to come, I created this new artwork on the weekend. It’s called ‘My Fertile Garden’

Specifically, it’s where my babies and I can meet together anytime in a luscious, fertile, colourful and LOVING place. I feel them around me already all the time, so I know it’s only just a matter of time before we meet in-the-flesh.

I know it’s a bit different to my usual work, and it may sound strange to you, but it’s like it wasn't just me doing the painting! While I was creating it, it was as if my kiddies were around me, co-creating and guiding the artwork with me. Such a truly beautiful experience.

YAY!!

Anyhow, in other WONDERFUL news, tomorrow I’m heading off to Malolo Lailai Island in Fiji for my very first holiday in two-and-a-half years!

hammock

I’m going there for a yoga retreat with my regular yoga teacher and other peeps from my class. Oh it’ll be SO lovely to REALLY relax without a paintbrush or sewing machine in sight!

As much as I love my work and feel so blessed to run my own full-time creative business, I really do need some switch-off, blissful relaxation time. And where better to do that than Fiji!

So, my friends, I wish you fun, creativity, safety and lots of love over the next week – and I’ll see y’all when I get back all flexi and zen and ready for the next chapter of my life to unfold :)

happy HELL’0’SCREAM

halloween_us all

Being the big kid I am, I couldn’t WAIT to dress up with my nieces and nephews for Halloween this year. I hadn’t done it since I was a kid myself!

I dipped into my vintage apron stash and made myself into a retro vampire-ravaged house-wife.

halloween_chris halloween_holly

Then I got to play dress-ups all over again by helping my nieces and nephews with their costumes and doing their make-up.

Here’s my favourite HELLO-O-SCREAM character: the beautiful (DEAD) Farmer Jess.

Can’t talk anymore … chocolate to eat … and braaaaiiiiiins!!
